I have had a calling for healing since I was a little girl. my grandmother was a healer and I grew up watching her prepare and apply treatments with medicinal herbs, suction cups, magic spells and other natural remedies to help us heal. My more intense introduction to power of healing hands happened in 1999 when my first baby was born with severe neck injury, that caused life-threatening complications and medical doctors failed to offer a treatment without scary side effects. My grandma had already passed away by then; following my mother's advice I turned to a healer, who was well known in my town for working with infants in serious conditions. She did all sorts of manipulations on my tiny daughter's spine, rubbed and stretched her limbs and back, bathed her in relaxing herbs and chanted prayers over her while moving in rhythmical motion. After just 9 sessions my baby-girl was gaining weight and growing like she supposed to, without any medications. Back then it all looked like magic. Now, years later, I know the lady who saved my daughter's life used spinal adjustments, massage therapy, medicinal herbs and energy work. Since then I was on the mission to become a healer.
Over the next few years, I learned different energy work styles: Norbekov System, Reiki, Qi-Gong, Tao meditation, Tarot and Oracle intuitive reading, Shamanic work from many teachers and classes and continue to learn in the present. In 2006 I graduated with Master Massage Therapist certificate from California Healing Arts College. Energy Healing and Bodywork are all I have been doing my entire professional career.
As a body-worker, I developed my own style: a mixture of massage and energy work custom-trimmed for each session to achieve the best results possible. I listen to my client's energy flow and watch how it correlates with physical symptoms, then follow my clinical experience, education and intuition to unblock the energy and relax the physical body.
As a healer, my focus is on coaching self-healing techniques, providing with intuitive insights and training Energy work practitioners (especially Usui Reiki, meditation and ancestral connection). I am a meticulous and strict teacher and take my art very seriously, while focusing on discovering and developing my students' unique ways of healing themselves and others and deeply connecting with the spirit-world. If you feel the calling to become a healer and my story sounds appealing, come talk to me.
I am looking forward to helping you.
I first learned about the power of massage through my own personal experience. I was formerly a manufacturing engineer, and a nationally competitive martial artist. I turned to massage and alternative medicine because I had cancer, and I knew that managing my stress and following a path of natural healing was the answer for me. Additionally, I knew that recovery as an athlete was important for my performance.
In 2002 I committed to a complete lifestyle change. Under the care and subsequent instruction of Dr. Mary Myers, N.D.,M.T. I completed a 580 hour massage therapy certification, in Uniontown, PA, and began to work with day spas in the city of Pittsburgh, PA.
In 2004 I opened my first private practice, and was ranked by my clients on CitySearch.com as the highest ranking day spa in Pittsburgh for two years running. I loved my community!
In 2005 I visited Maui, and my family on O’ahu several times. On O’ahu I felt at home, so at the end of 2006 I closed my spa, and moved to Hawai’i permanently.
At the time when I completed my massage certification in Pennsylvania there was no official required licensing, so my 580 hours wouldn’t transfer to the State of Hawaii. In 2008 I completed 600 hours with Hawaii Healing Arts College in Kailua, HI. I ranked in the top 5% on my Hawaii State Board exam, and have been practicing in Hawaii ever since.
From my very first massage to now I’ve studied and become proficient in as many modalities as possible. Being a former engineer, and coming from a family of engineers, my brain loves efficiency and design of systems. All things about the body and natural healing became my pre/occupation (pun intended :) My areas of expertise include: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Shiatsu, Tui Na, Thai, Sports, PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation), Trigger Point, Myofascial Release, Structural Integration, Origin/Insertion Therapy, Pre/Post Natal, Infant & Child, Gerontology, Lymphatic Drainage, Chair, Hot Stone, Advanced Traditional Hawaiian Lomilomi and Applied Kinesiology.
In June of 2014 I completed the 100-Hour Course, a 200 hour apprenticeship, and began specializing exclusively in Applied Kinesiology. I have since integrated it with a unique fusion of complementary modalities creating AKIT Method . This patent pending protocol addresses the root cause of pain and dysfunction in the body on a neurological level, thus alleviating symptoms. AKIT Method is for everyone, however I primarily work with professional and competitive athletes, military service men and women, and those with physical trauma and surgical recovery needs to improve quality of life.
I look forward to being of service, and helping you achieve your best health and performance possible.
